Policy
ASA carries out policy work on behalf of members.
Go to our Outcomes Archive page for information about outcomes work and summaries of research undertaken before 2007.
Our Policy Team prepares responses to government initiatives relating to advice and the legal system, produces briefings and discussion papers, and undertakes research. We represent the advice sector in discussions with government bodies and other organisations. We provide policy forums for our members and run occasional seminars and conferences.
Our current policy prioirities are:
- legal aid and the Community Legal Services in England and Wales
- quality and standards of advice
- alternative dispute resolution.
The policy pages on this site contain our publicly available policy papers, responses, briefings and updates. Materials are organised by year with older materials in the archive page, arranged in date order. Our published policy materials can also be accessed through the library page. We can provide these in a larger font on request.
Go to the page for further information and guidance on applying for and operating the Community Legal Service Quality Mark or a Legal Aid contract. Go to the page to find out how to obtain our information briefings on the Quality Mark and contracting.
