How to use this data analysis spreadsheet

Data analysis spreadsheet

First, save a copy of the spreadsheet to your own computer.

All the pilot agencies we worked with used some questions for which the answer was a 1-5 scale rating.
Eg How would you rate your confidence in dealing with a similar problem in the future, where 5 is very confident and 1 is not confident at all.

This spreadsheet can be used to analyse the results of this kind of question. It can be used for up to 25 clients and up to 25 questions.

How it works

  • Click on the "All questions and answers" tab. Column B shows the answers that 25 clients have given to an example question. So, in our example, client 1 gave the answer 5, client 2 gave the answer 4, and so on
  • Now click on the "Analysis of question 1 (example)" tab. This has automatically calculated how many people gave the answer 5 to our example question, how many gave the answer 4 and so on
  • Line 5 shows you these figures calculated as a percentage and the table gives you a visual representation of the answers. This spreadsheet will analyse your clients' answers in the same way

What to do

  • Go back to the "All questions and answers" sheet. Column A is for you to record the number or name of each client. You can put the client name in here if you want or just leave it as numbers.
  • In column C, record the answers your clients gave to your question 1. This can be up to 25 answers. It doesn't matter if there are fewer than 25 answers.
  • Now click on tab "Analysis of question 1". This will now have analysed your figures in the same way as shown in the example questions sheet.
  • In order for the table to show what the question is about, click on cell A3 where it says "subject matter of question". Type over this with your own question.
  • If you want to copy the table into a word document, hold the arrow over the table, right click, click on copy and simply paste the table into your document.
