Advice Week 12th - 18th October 2009

WTFA logo

Six national charities have again joined together to stage Advice Week: Advice Services Alliance, Advice UK, Age Concern and Help the Aged, Citizens Advice, Law Centres Federation and Youth Access.

Theme

With the recession increasing both the number of people experiencing problems and the number of problems they're experiencing, the theme of this year's Advice Week is 'Get help now before a problem becomes a crisis'.

Promoting your agency

Advice Week is an ideal platform for you to raise your profile. You should by now have received 2 A4 posters and 1 banner poster that promote Advice Week generally. In addition, though, we have produced posters to help you use Advice Week to meet your own more specific objectives, whichever they are:

  • raising awareness of self help materials
  • raising awareness of your services amongst groups for whom English is a second language
  • recruiting volunteers
  • raising funds

Ordering posters
To request copies of the posters shown at the bottom of the page (maximum two of each version per agency), email advice.week@citizensadvice.org.uk quoting 'Funds', 'Volunteers', 'Self help' or 'E2L' (image available shorlty) in the subject line. These posters are available on a first come first served basis.

Resource pack

We have also created a resource pack, which includes more information about the week as well as ideas for local activities.

Guidance notes

Short, practical guidance notes on a range of core communications skills can be downloaded here: Copywriting, Print production, Organising events, Giving presentations, Writing a press release.
