Outcomes of advice: Shelter activities

Independent researchers from the Evaluation Trust have been commissioned to undertake and report on semi-structured interviews with 80 or more of Shelter's ex clients. The focus of the research is the outcomes of advice and how these came about. The interviews explore clients' initial problems, the reasons they approached Shelter for help, what help Shelter was able to give, the type of intervention made, and the resulting outcome or change in their situation (if any).
 
The research will:


 
The scope of this project has been limited to interventions in Housing Advice Centres of over 2 hours. A research project to capture the outcomes of interventions which took less than two hours (including phone and email advice) is currently being designed.
 
The research is taking place in the context of other projects relevant to the outcomes of advice – these include the development of a new client information system and a strategy to further integrate the different strands of our advice services (phone, email and Housing Advice Centre).
